#1 – Strawberry
First batch of wine, ever!
Bottled (15) 750ml (from 3 gallons) at an unknown ABV on 7 August 2010.
I still have some of this batch around (in addition to the bottle-a-year for 5 years in reserve for aging), and it is a favorite on many levels. The aroma is unmistakably strawberry; the taste still has a little sweetness, but for the most part it’s dry and tart as it fermented bone-dry. Perhaps there’s a slight brandy-ness about it after nearly 3 years of aging.
See the “History” section for more background on how I came to start this batch, but in essence I did strawberry because I’d read somewhere that it was almost impossible to mess up. So the philosophy of this batch was to relax and see what happens, and not obsess over every minute detail. “Don’t worry, you’ll be happy.” 🙂
