#16 – Pear

Bottled (16) 325ml and (15) 750ml at 17% ABV on 19 February 2012.

This was the final fruit brought back from Burning Man 2011.  It’s completely bone-dry, which may be part of the reason behind its slightly odd (yet unmistakably pear) flavor.  Originally, its color was a bit pink, but that appears to have precipitated out over time.  Paired well with gorgonzola.

Revisited the 2013 reserve on 24 February 2014…  The pinkish color is almost non-existent now, it’s a nice dark-yellow/amber — with a fair amount of sediment at the bottom of the bottle.  The ultra-dry taste is still a little odd, but seems to have mellowed somewhat over the years.  Nice pear/floral bouquet — wish I had some gorgonzola to go with it tonight!  🙂
